La soledad del corredor de fondo

Un diálogo de la película La soledad del corredor de fondo (The loneliness of the long distance runner, 1962), dirigida por Tony Richardson. La historia original y la adaptación eran de Alan Sillitoe. El diálogo tiene lugar al principio, al poco de llegar al reformatorio, y es entre el protagonista, el joven delincuente Colin Smith (fabuloso Tom Courtenay) y Stacy, el preferido del director del centro. Toda la rabia y frustración juvenil y de clase lanzadas como un latigazo.

Stacy: And always remember, they've got the whip hand.
Smith: Do you know what I'd do if I had the whip hand? I'd get all the coppers, governers, posh whores, army officers and members of parliament and I'd stick them up against this wall and let them have it 'cause that's what they'd like to do to blokes like us.
Stacy: You'll learn.
Smith: We'll see.
